‘Striking a Chord’ – The line between music and singing as pastime and therapy

Following the hugely successful event on ‘Art, Dreams and Reality’ we are continuing the season with an evening on the Line Between Music and Singing as Pastime and Therapy. Where, if you were ever in doubt of music and singing having a therapeutic or positive impact on individuals, you will be convinced otherwise at the end of the evening.

Andy Thomas, IGA Group Analyst and IGA London Courses Director and musician, will convene the evening. We welcome a professional singer Kerry McDunnough BMus, PGDip, LRAM (biography overleaf), and Jean-Christophe Larkin, a professional music therapist and IGA Group Analyst.

Kerry and Jean-Christophe will speak briefly about how music can make a difference to improving wellbeing both temporarily and generally, and help to put a spring back in our steps.

Kerry will then demonstrate how an hour or two a week of music and/or song can significantly improve our general wellbeing by releasing endorphins and oxytocin, building self-confidence, trust and acceptance.
